Jennifer Garner’s wet hair and rolled jeans…puh-lease!

Published by wftw at 7:40 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I’ve found something which I cannot believe is being reported on. Seeing as how I just started this blog today, it sure didn’t take me long to find content. This will obviously be a long battle, but one which will be seen through to the end.

Yahoo, yes Yahoo, you know, that leader in the on-line news industry (are you picking up on the sarcasm), has announced that…get this…Jennifer Garner is a normal mom. OMG! Stop the presses! What’s this you say? A woman who has a few kids is a “normal mom”?!?!

Give me a break. First of all, I’d be hard pressed to recall even one movie this “celebrity” has been in, and this is what Yahoo thought they’d lead off with for today? Yes, that’s right, I didn’t find this story buried in small print but rather on the MAIN PAGE of Yahoo. Someone get me an airplane vomit bag because I think I’m going to blow chunks.

We’re going to chop this up into two different discussions. First of all, I don’t hate all celebrities. In fact, I’m a huge movie fan. However, why would I give one iota about Jennifer Garner having wet hair from taking a shower and rolling up her jeans so that she could wear tennis shoes rather than healed boots. I’m not making this stuff up people…those are actually two things pointed out in the Yahoo story. I know, right?! Now now, put down that gun, it’ll be okay…we’ll get through this together.

Secondly, is there a huge demand for this type of heavy hitting news story? Are people sitting at home asking themselves if Jennifer Garner is a normal mom? Do they look at pictures of her and wonder if her jeans are rolled up because she didn’t want to wear healed boots or are they wondering if rolling up jeans, 1950 style, is coming back in style?

What is with people’s fascination with celebrities? Get over it! Jennifer Garner’s wet hair and rolled up jeans means, according to Yahoo, she’s just like everyone else. So, we can all stop idolizing her now. That’s right, take down the shrine in your living room you built for her. And while you’re at it, take down the one you have for any other celebrity.

That’s the problem with today…too many people thinking just because someone is on television or the movie screen portraying a roll makes them a role model. See what I did there…”roll” and “role”…yeah, I’m a clever s.o.b. Now back on topic.

This goes both ways. These brain dead celebrities think we give a rat’s 4th-point-of-contact what we think about their political views. I could give a wombat’s butt what Pink thinks about voting. Oh, you don’t know who Pink is? She’s a no talent signer who was shown on MTV multiple times an hour, in little one minute segments, talking about how important it is to get off your couch and go vote on election day. I haven’t watched MTV since. Me voting had absolutely nothing to do with Pink telling me I should. I was smart enough to figure that out on my own thank you very much. And just in case an MTV executive is reading this…CHANGE THE NAME OF YOUR CHANNEL! I haven’t seen a music video on “Music TeleVision” in years!

I’m telling you people, if everyone keeps buying magazines like “People,” then all that’s going to do is feed the already inflamed egos of these celebrities, which in turn will cause us to have to suffer through crap stories like the one mentioned above about Jennifer Garner being a regular mom.

Next time you see someone buying a “People” magazine, take it from them, roll it up, and smack them with it. They should be ashamed of themselves and repent immediately. The way people adore these complete strangers is sickening. Why would Jane Doe hang a poster of Brad Pitt on her wall. Does she think Brad Pitt has a poster of her on her wall? Unbelievable. Hey Jane, here’s a thought, if you want to hang a picture of a stranger on the wall, go to your local fire department or police station, snap a picture, get Wal-Mart to blow it up to poster size, and stick that on your wall. At least idolize someone who can do something for you, like save your life or your home.

What say you reader? Who do you idolize? Who’s poster is hanging up in your room or in the room of your children?

Jewel/Pink Ink…Hello Kitty and Miss Piggy have more creativity poured into their thumbs than most celebrities have in their entire bodies. Not only that, but Hello Kitty is probably more popular world wide than most movie stars.

Let’s also remember that neither Hello Kitty, nor Miss Piggy, to my knowledge, has ever been coked up or high on some potent weed.

As for Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I had to look him up. Did you know he was expelled from school at the ripe old age of 16? Yeah, great role model he makes for the youth of today.

I’m guessing you’d like his poster up only due to the way he looks. I can live with that, even if your husband can’t. But, just tell the poster to keep it’s mouth shut because it’s there for looks and not to impart any sort of wisdom on us. ;)

My 3-year-old son has vintage and current military posters on his walls to reflect our passion within our family. My daughter has no posters, only her papers she brings home from school. I personally encourage my children to be involved or like things more realistically in reach as well as emphasize their own character and pride. Meaning, I would rather see a Kindergarten A+ scribble paper on the wall than Hannah Montana.

Dixie Fix…Good for you and your family! See, I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought this way. Okay, maybe I was a little worried that I was the only normal person left in this country…but alas, it’s not so. :)

Military posters are certainly something I can get behind. Our armed services teach discipline, structure, honor, and a slew of other positive attributes. Of course, seeing as how I served over 10 years in the military myself, I might be a little bias. hahaha

As for your daughter, I think it’s terrific she has her own works of art on her wall. Nothing wrong with some praise now and then. Everyone needs a creative outlet…perhaps art will be hers.

I like your realistic approach with your children…hooray for you!

We are told that celebraty is the tripe that we most desire…we are fed this on a daily basis…celebraty is what we wish we all had!Reality programings most popular theme is what people will do to achieve celebraty….this also traces back to classic escapism….wanting to get out ofone`s own life for a little while and trying to imagine being in someone else`s life….I do not know whose life I wanted to have….I`ve spent my life trying not repeat my parents mistakes that I witnessed growing up….my life now as an adult is to make sure my kids just have my input and my undivided attention if possible my assistance to pursue their own life passions.

Chinamatt…very true. The editor ran the story because that’s what his customers want to read. However, doesn’t the editor have a responsibility not to print garbage, no matter who wants to read about such things?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for freedom of press, but give us WORTH press, not drivel.

Deckster…you didn’t know who’s life you wanted to have, but at least you knew who’s life you didn’t want and adjusted accordingly.

It’s funny how people want what they can’t have without thinking it through. The general public wants to be famous. Yet, I constantly hear about how the famous want to be incognito…you see them hiding their faces from the cameras, dressing in disguises, and hear them complaining about how they can’t just go out and have a normal life. But, they were once part of the general public and did all they could to get their fame. Kind of funny that way.

Oh come on she totally deserved best actress award for her stunning role in Elektra.

(Don’t you really really wish there was a sarcasm font on here?)

    Welcome to today.com, btw.

    Cheers!

skwguitar…Yes, we absolutely need a sarcasm font. Although, I fear most of my posts would end up being in that font. In fact, the particular font would be so heavily applied it would be oozing off the screen, getting in between the spaces on your computer’s keyboard.

As for Jennifer Garner’s roll in Elektra, I haven’t seen that movie, but damn you for reminding me it existed! Just when I’d gotten that horrible movie trailer out of my head, you put the image right back. Thanks a lot genius! ;)

With two or three kids now, maybe we’re lucky enough to have seen the last of her on the big screen. Ahhh…we can only be so fortunate!

    Great post!
I used to have posters of Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) in my room. And I was in my 20’s at the time!
I like looking at beautiful people! May not find someone so good looking at my local fire hall though…
